Day 1: Passau
Passau is the departure point for your exciting Danube cruise. A university city, it combines old-town charm and ecclesiastical history with a young, modern vibe. As the ship departs, enjoy the thrill of heading off along the Danube for the first time – and look forward to your cruise, with its many experiences, picturesque natural scenery and magnificent towns and cities. Welcome aboard!
Day 2: Wachau
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
Day 2: Bratislava
Bratislava, home to approximately 450,000 inhabitants and located on the left bank of the Danube, is a young capital city – the youngest in Europe, in fact. Throughout the old town, you’ll see traces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire wherever you go. This leisurely city of baroque and rococo, palaces and palisades, and art and coffee houses is a perfect place to wander around, marvel at impressive sights, relax and unwind.
Day 3: Ilok
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
Day 4: Belgrade
Belgrade is a well-kept secret among Europe’s many metropolises. The capital of the Republic of Serbia, it is the country’s political, cultural and economic centre. It has a population of around 1.7 million, making it the country’s most populous city too. Belgrade’s location makes it a hub for travel between central and south-eastern Europe. During your Danube cruise, you’ll get to experience Belgrade up-close and enjoy this wonderfully varied city.
Day 6: Rousse
During your Danube Delta cruise, you’ll discover the beautiful port of Rousse. Many people consider this pearl of northern Bulgaria, nestled among the most varied landscapes of the eastern Danube plain, the country’s prettiest city. By the time you have taken a stroll along Ulitsa Aleksandrovska, between Rousse’s two main squares, you’ll probably feel the same. Enjoy your day in Bulgaria!
Day 6: Oltenita (Bucharest)
The ship will call at Oltenita, just 60 kilometres from Romania’s capital. Bucharest – often called ‘The Paris of the East’ – awaits you. A city full of contradictions, it manages to bring together many different periods of history at once. Lots of people end up falling in love with Bucharest. Will you?
Day 8: Tulcea
It’s time to explore the Danube Delta! Tulcea is your stop today. The city can look back on a very eventful past. Once part of Bulgaria, it is now an important Romanian port and is considered the gateway to the Danube Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After your day’s explorations, your cruise will take you right into the Delta – an exciting passage with splendid views, and obviously the highlight on your journey.
Day 9: Tulcea
It’s time to explore the Danube Delta! Tulcea is your stop today. The city can look back on a very eventful past. Once part of Bulgaria, it is now an important Romanian port and is considered the gateway to the Danube Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After your day’s explorations, your cruise will take you right into the Delta – an exciting passage with splendid views, and obviously the highlight on your journey.
Day 10: Oltenita (Bucharest)
The ship will call at Oltenita, just 60 kilometres from Romania’s capital. Bucharest – often called ‘The Paris of the East’ – awaits you. A city full of contradictions, it manages to bring together many different periods of history at once. Lots of people end up falling in love with Bucharest. Will you?
Day 10: Giurgiu (Bucharest)
Bucharest – Romania’s capital – is a city of fascinating contrasts. Beautiful boyar houses compete with concrete walls and glass facades, while straight avenues morph into winding streets. Bucharest is characterised by a constant contrast between poverty and prosperity. Having been under dictatorial rule during its time as a socialist republic, it still seems to be in need of regeneration today. But in spite of this, it’s still a city you can fall in love with.
Day 12: Turnu Severin
Right next to the breathtaking statue of Decebalus carved in stone and the magnificent little church of Mraconia located in the Danube Valley one will find the village of Turnu Severin. This tranquil little town perfectly reflects Romanian life. Take a stroll through the center and discover the historical water tower or the ancient relics from the Roman times, such as the Trajan's Bridge built in 102-105 AD.
Day 12: Cataracts
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
Day 13: Novi Sad
The capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina makes quite an impression, with the mighty Petrovaradin fortress occupying the right bank of the Danube and the picturesque old town of Novi Sad standing atop the left bank. With around 220,000 inhabitants, it is Serbia’s second-largest city. Tourists are captivated by the old town – which looks as though it could almost be Italian. Will it cast a spell on you too? During this Danube cruise, you’ll have the chance to find out.
Day 13: Ilok
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
Day 15: Budapest
Do you know how many bridges Budapest has? There are seven in total – and they span the river between the neighbourhoods Buda and Pest. The most well known is probably the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Take a look at Budapest’s imposing structures for yourself as you cruise down the Danube. And if you go out onto the sun deck of your A-ROSA ship, you’ll also have an unobstructed view of Budapest’s famous parliament building. The perfect way to experience a stunning city.

Day 17: Vienna
This is a real highlight of your Danube cruise: Vienna, the capital of Austria with that extra-special something. The locals sound as though they are singing when they speak, and it is customary for certain business owners to address their regular customers with their full title. That’s just the way things are done here. With its wealth of museums, galleries, palaces and castles, plus the state opera and many theatres, the city enjoys a lively cultural scene all year-round. The Viennese are proud of their city – and rightly so!
